― Do you know about Hiroshima? ―
Do you know about Hiroshima?
August 6, 1945, 8:15 a.m. Hiroshima.
The first time in history
an atomic bomb was dropped
onto the lives of ordinary citizens.
The city, reduced to a hellscape.
The people, transformed into figures
unbearably painful to look at.
Witnessed by the eyes of young children
who miraculously survived.
More than 75 years have passed.
Those young children
are now elderly, and,
as survivors, are called hibakusha.
Their lives were forever changed that day.
Suffering the aftereffects.
Enduring the guilt of having survived.
And yet, they continue to live,
placing their hope in the future.
This project was started
through an ardent desire
to preserve the images of the hibakusha
and those who have lived alongside them.
